Project overview
Gharbia Water and Wastewater Company provides drinking water and sanitation to one of the most densely populated governorates in the Nile Delta, including the cities of Tanta, El-Mahalla El-Kubra, and Kafr El-Zayat. Much of the rural supply comes from compact groundwater treatment plants that need periodic rehabilitation and replacement.
Between 2002 and 2004 Metal Home for Industry supplied and installed epoxy-coated steel water-filter tanks and carried out the rehabilitation and replacement of compact water treatment plants for the General Authority for Potable Water and Sanitation in Gharbia. At the Kafr El-Dawar station in Basyoun we also supplied and installed lifting pumps and renewed the clarifiers and filter tanks.
Rehabilitating live stations means working around continuing supply while replacing corroded vessels and internals with new, properly lined equipment. This multi-year programme is one of our most complete water-sector references and the origin of many of the filter designs we still use.
Scope of supply
- Supply and installation of epoxy-coated steel water filter tanks, alongside the rehabilitation and replacement of compact water treatment plants for the General Authority for Potable Water and Sanitation in Gharbia (2002-2004).
- Supply and installation of lifting pumps, combined with the renewal and replacement of clarifiers and filter tanks at the 'Kafr El-Dawar' water station in Basyoun, Gharbia.
