Water Hammer Vessels
Metal Home for Industry fabricates carbon-steel water hammer vessels (surge vessels) for pumping stations and long transmission mains, in vertical and horizontal configurations with capacities up to 100 m³. The vessels are built at our factory in 15 May City, Cairo, to the consultant's specification and to ASME Section VIII pressure-vessel practice.

About this product
When a pump trips or a valve closes quickly, the moving column of water decelerates suddenly and creates a pressure surge, known as water hammer, that can rupture pipes, damage pumps, and lift pipe supports. A surge vessel connected to the discharge header holds a cushion of compressed air or a bladder that absorbs that energy, keeping the line pressure within safe limits and protecting the whole network.
Our vessels are supplied with the connection nozzles, level gauges, air-compressor connections, drains, and support saddles or legs specified by the hydraulic study, and are delivered with an internal epoxy coating suitable for potable water. We have installed surge vessels alongside our tanks and piping at the Giza and Qalubia water stations, and we can fabricate matching headers, elbows, and flanges so the complete pump-room package comes from one workshop.
