Helwan Cement Company
Structural steel emergency staircases, security gates, and 8-inch water and 6-inch diesel pipelines for the Helwan Cement plant, executed by Metal Home for Industry 2010-2014.
Project overview
Helwan Cement Company, founded in 1929, operates one of Egypt's oldest and largest cement plants on the east bank of the Nile in Helwan, south of Cairo, and is part of the Suez Cement group. The plant is a few kilometres from our factory in 15 May City, making us a natural local partner for its maintenance and upgrade works.
Between 2010 and 2014 Metal Home for Industry executed a series of works at the plant. In 2010 we installed an 8-inch water supply pipeline and a 6-inch diesel fuel pipeline. In 2014 we supplied and installed structural steel emergency staircases and heavy security gates for the site, together with the associated civil works for foundations and openings.
Cement plants are harsh environments with heavy dust, vibration, and continuous operation, and steelwork there must be detailed for durability and installed without disrupting production. The Helwan Cement programme is our leading reference for structural steel and piping works in an operating industrial plant.
